Sandown Bay by Photo Chris BoyntonSandown is situated on the eastern side of the sweeping Sandown Bay this southSandown Bay by Photo Chris Boynton facing coastal village is a well known tourist destination famous for its long safe sandy beaches and Sandown Pier.

The Pier is popular with visitors with a range of indoor amenities at the beach end of the pier, and an outdoor funfair and landing stage at the seaward end. There are cafes, a children's play area, an amusement arcade, bowling and an indoor crazy golf course.

Sandown itself is a traditional seaside town offering a comprehensive range of facilities including Caravan Parks, Hotels, Guest Houses, Self Catering and Bed & Breakfasts many with beach front locations.

The town offers all the facilities you would come to expect from Restaurants, Pubs, Beach Bars, Cafes, and Tea Rooms to Gift shops, Fashion Shops, Haberdasheries, Butchers, Hairdressers, Convenience Shops and a Night Club.

Travelling west along Culver Parade is the Dinosaur Isle an interesting interactive history lesson about the Islands prehistoric past and Isle of Wight Zoo which houses the largest collection of Tigers in the country and specialises in their care. 

Sandown has a "Dotto" train which travels the length of the beach front and will transport visitors from the beach to the town.
