The Isle of Wight has a vibrant live music scene with local singers & groups building a loyal following around the island. The Isle of Wight has many establishments offering the opportunity for up & coming young artists & groups the chance to perform in front of live audiences with open mic nights while the more established artists have regular weekly bookings in various popular venues across the island.

The Islands pubs & clubs offer a wide range of entertainment throughout the week from tribute bands performing as Iconic groups & artists like the Beatles & Thin Lizzy  or Elvis & Elton John to young groups performing covers of well known classics or folk & country duets & solo artists offering wide range of popular music.


The Isle of Wight has several popular venues scattered around the Island where these artists can be seen performing they include The Bargeman’s Rest & Castle Inn in Newport, the Anchor Inn & Union in Cowes, the Steamer Inn & Harrys Bar in Shanklin, the King Lud & the Kasbah in Ryde.

 On a larger scale the Isle of Wight has hosted one of the largest music festivals the country has ever seen the 1970 Isle of Wight pop festival went down in history with unconfirmed estimates of over 800,000 people attending. Today’s music festival has a more modest attendance of around 50,000, however it still attracts the world’s greatest artists & Bands the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon, Cold Play & David Bowie to name a few.
The Island also holds other music festivals such as the Bestival which is growing in stature every year,
This festival offers a different style of atmosphere not just live bands on offer spiritual therapy, inflatable churches & DJs giving their spin on the music scene.
